- Obligations of Trinidad and Tobago
Under the Convention and its regional implementation Annexes the major obligations for Trinidad and Tobago include:
- To adopt an integrated approach in implementing the Convention at all levels, particularly in the areas of data collection and analysis, information research and exchange, technology transfer, and capacity and awareness building. All Parties are encouraged to coordinate activities carried out under this Convention with other relevant international agreements, particularly the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Convention on Biological Diversity.
- To report on measures taken to implement the Convention. Parties that have prepared National Action Programmes (NAPs) are obliged to provide regular progress reports on implementation.
- To prepare NAPs and to strengthen cooperation at regional and sub-regional levels.

Regional Implementation Annex for Latin America and the Caribbean
Obligations of affected Country Parties of the region (Article 7, para. 1)
- Establish/strengthen national focal points to coordinate action to combat desertification/land degradation and /or mitigate the effects of drought
- Set up a mechanism to coordinate the national focal points for the following purposes
- Exchanges of information and experience
- Coordination of activities at the sub-regional and regional levels
- Promotion of technical, scientific, technological and financial cooperation
- Identification of external cooperation requirements
- Follow-up and evaluation of the implementation of action programmes
